CREATE YOUR "CASITA"
The Heritage Casita Workshop
A Ceramic Journey into Puerto Rican Architecture
INSTRUCTOR: MARCELA ZEGRI
Join us for an exclusive, elevated ceramic experience. Moving beyond the basics, this workshop invites you to explore slab-building architecture. Inspired by the soft tones, iconic balconies, and tropical charm of our island’s housing, you will learn to construct a detailed miniature "Casita" from scratch.
This is more than a pottery class; it is an architectural study in clay. You will work with custom templates to ensure structural integrity while focusing on the Puertorrican casitas.
Choose Your Experience
Option 1: The Sculpture Build, MARCH 7 - 11 AM
Price: $150 Perfect for those who enjoy the process of hand-building and want a creative project to finish at their own pace.
Includes: All materials, professional instruction, and custom templates.
The Process: We will build the structure together during the session. After the workshop, your piece will be fired in our kiln to "Bisque."
Finishing: Once fired, you will pick up your white ceramic house and finish it at home using acrylic paints. This allows you total control over the vibrant or pastel colors of your casita!
Includes 1 kiln firing.
Option 2: The Full Ceramic Masterpiece, MARCH 7 and 21, 11 AM
Price: $185
Includes: All materials, professional instruction, and custom templates.
The Process: We build the structure in the first session.
Finishing: Your piece will be fired twice. You will return for a specialized glazing session (or choose your colors for the instructor to glaze) using our curated palette of soft rose, sage, beige, and sea-foam blue.
The Result: A fully vitrified, waterproof, and professionally glazed art piece with a timeless "stucco" finish.
Includes 2 kiln firings and all ceramic glazes.
What You’ll Learn:
Precise Slab Construction: How to join 90-degree angles for a sturdy structure.
Architectural Detailing: Creating balconies and "Miami-style" textures without the complexity of traditional bars (rejas).
Surface Design: Mimicking the weathered but beautiful facades of Puerto Rico.Workshop Policies & Re-scheduling
To ensure the best experience for all our students, we have established the following policies regarding our specialized Casita workshops:
No Refunds Policy
All workshop bookings are final. We do not offer monetary refunds. However, we understand that plans can change! If you are unable to attend, you may reschedule your session or receive a credit based on the notice provided.
2. Re-scheduling & Credits
7 Days or More Notice: You may reschedule your workshop to a future date or receive a full credit (gift card) to be used for any of our classes.
2 to 6 Days Notice: You will receive a 50% credit towards a future workshop. The remaining 50% covers the cost of the clay and specialized materials pre-prepared for your project.
48 Hours or Less / No-Shows: Cancellations made within 48 hours or failure to show up are not eligible for credit or re-scheduling, as your station and materials have already been fully prepared.
3. Two-Session Commitment (Option 2)
For the "Full Ceramic Masterpiece," your seat is reserved for two specific dates.
Missed Glazing Session: If you miss the second session, we cannot offer a private makeup date. You may pick up your "bisque" casita to finish at home with acrylics, or pay a $25 fee for the instructor to glaze and fire it in a single color of your choice.
4. Workshop Experience
Refreshments: We are happy to provide a selection of complimentary drinks and snacks for you to enjoy during the creative process. Sit back, relax, and let the inspiration flow!
Punctuality: Please arrive 10–15 minutes early. Because slab-building is a step-by-step process, late arrivals of more than 20 minutes may be required to reschedule.
